Visitors to Venice can watch or take part in a wide range of sports and activities throughout the year. Boating and rowing are popular pastimes - for obvious reasons - and the city hosts many regattas, such as the Vogalonga Marathon in May. Visitors are often welcome to join in these regattas.

Venice has its own football team, Venezia, which plays at the Pierluigi Penzo stadium and commands a large and loyal following. The city has excellent facilities for a wide range of other sports including golf, tennis, sailing and swimming.
